How loud is too loud on a can?

Is it when you cant hear anything but the note from your can at anything under 100mph

Is it when you get off your bike and your shouting at everyone as you can't hear.

Or is it when riding everyone stops and looks at whats causing the noise?

Its possibally that I'm just not used to having a loud can on my bike after rideing around with the standard one for 10 months. But bugger me if its not loud! Think I'll have to get someone to ride past me on my bike so I can see just how loud it is. Laughing

No can is ever too loud. May be too loud for the plod, but my nextdoor neighbour has the same can on his R6, it is well loud and gets loads of attention but he has never been pulled over for it

My mate Nige has the same can on his CBR6.

Yes it is louder than standard but it doesnt seem excessively loud as M's VFR is slightly louder. It is definitely louder than my quiet bike though.
Although you say its loud, I bet you love the sound though, its quite deep isn't it?

Oh yeah, think it sounds sooo nice, I started it up and my mate looked at me and just went:
"Ohhhhh sweet"

which about sums up how I feel about it. Very Happy

You're right, they don't really sound like anything at all as standard, it's quite feeble. Mine had the Art already on it when I bought it and the standard can's been doing a fine job as a doorstop Mr. Green

I've got an old Micron race can on the ZXR... doesn't appear too loud when on tickover or at low revs but up the top of the rev-range it does get a bit 'noticeable'. Very Happy

A race can will always seem loud for the first day that you have it, but you'll soon adapt to it. Smile The thing is though, it's so much more comfortable for your brain when you revert back to the standard can...but you often hear scary engine noises instead. Confused

Kris - don't Kwak airboxes amplify some of the engine noise as well?

It isnt that loud, its just everything else is really quiet Smile

You'll get used to it, and start to like the noise Cool

And microns aint normally *that* loud, as luke says Art are pretty loud (apart from korn and zims bikes with any cans! )

Yea they are known for their airbox 'howl' at high speed. Sort of a "WOoooooooOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHOOooooooo" noise.
Very Happy
I let my mate have a go a few weeks back and I stood at the side of the road so I could see/hear what the bike looked like on the go. Fuck me was I proud. Very Happy

Yeah, instead of the normal mines bigger than yours we'll have to do the mines louder than yours. Laughing

A while ago on a lazy afternoon I whipped the cans off for a laugh and took it for a short spin around my area - fucking hell. Everybody turns around to look at you with an expression of horror on their face, car alarms go off in front of you, windows rattle and old people dive on the floor expecting an air raid. It actually physically hurts to rev the bike beyond 5,000rpm and under engine braking you can feel your brain bouncing off the insides of your skull.

Coming back to my house I killed the engine and coasted the last few hundred meters, fearing that the neighbors would hang me by my testicles from the nearest lamp post if I subjected them to that god awful noise. And then you have Zim, who still thinks even that isn't loud enough.

Well we all know his hearing is damaged! I mean have you listened to what he calls music. Razz Laughing

When you all came round mine and you left on the storm and I was stood behind you my internals moved around, so I wouldn't like to think what it would be like without cans on!

I haven't heard Zim's bike running for ages (nor has he probably Laughing ) but I think Dru's new zorsts sound the bollox (they even rattled his indicators loose Shocked ) when I chased him around Heathrow on the way to Stockley the noise was fantastic.

As Korn so rightly put it, even no cans on a litre twin isn't loud enough. Very Happy

I'm so used to my cut down blue flames that it was a total shock when I put the standard cans back on for the ride to BdB. It was so weird, I could actually hear the wind noise over the exhaust note at anything over 50mph. I guess it's just because I'm so used to only hearing the engine noise at 150. Mr. Green

Roll on 125dB. Very Happy

hmm how loud is too loud, probly my can

the nature of how high my bike revs is always going to make lots of noise, its was always a screamer with the standard can, you could just hear the cam gear train screaming as well

this lot bought me a race can for it, just before i went away, and i took it for a test ride, they said they could here me all the way to where i went and all the way back, and i must have gone a good two miles up the road

its not loud loud like zims storm with his blue flame baked bean tins on, but it really screams, and cos of the way i ride as well, red lining up through the gears as well as down, i tend to make a lot of noise, whenever i go to stockley park coming off the slip road coming down through the box, then you pull up and someone will always say "why is it screaming so much" Very Happy

i personally think it sounds like an F1 car, nice and burbly sounding till you get to where the power sort of starts, then its MIIIIIOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW click MIIIIIIOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

fantastic!Very HappyVery Happy

gonna miss that! Sad
