First Real Bike What to Get.....

Hi all, i'm 25 had gillera runner for 3 years driving for 7. First bike 1993 cbr600f or 1991cbr 400. Whats best to start on 600 to powerful or ok. Thanks

I'd go for the smaller bike myself. It's a good idea to work your way up. A scoot to a fast 600 is a big step, IMHO.

There is no right or wrong answer to your question...everyone will give you a different bike and reasons why to get it, because it's all down to personal choice.

Best advice is, look around at some bikes you like. Do some test rides (if possible), pick out say four of your preferred bikes, then ask for peoples opinions on those four.

Then make your decision.

Just so you know, before the internet, we bikers just asked a couple of mates, then made our decisions largely on what we could afford or what was for sale.

600's fine if you're not a flid with the throttle and don't get too greedy

I started on a GPZ500 and moved to a CBR6 after about 6 months and 2k miles. What I've learned is this, don't be a dick and you keep all of your limbs in good functioning order

go for the 600. it would cost the same for insurance most likely, and is generally better.
400's are tiny for a start, and the 600's only have about 20bhp more.

they're noticeably faster, but the older ones arent powerful enough to flip on acceleration, but i suppose you could fall off the back if your not holding on.
