moped charb cleaning........ need help

hi there my moped need the carb cleaned because it is giving up power and the guy at bike shack said it needed cleaning i was fink of buying carb cleaner myself but im not to sure how to do the guy at the shop said u had to spray your carb while the bike is running and keep the revs up to get rid of the crap thats on it........ is this true ???

You can do that but it's probably not that effective.

If you want to give it a decent clean on the cheap, buy some white spirit, remove your carb and strip it down. Soak all the separate parts in the white spirit for 48 hours or more. This should remove most of the dirt.
