If you can figure out which wires go to the loom then those are the live and earth. You could put them to the loom but personally I would put them to the battery. Put in an inline fuse (Halfords will sell them). I would also suggest that you use a relay in the wire from the +ve terminal on the battery, and use a wire that is live when the ignition is on to trigger it (would suggest the feed for the rear brake light switch) so that you don't leave the grips on when the ignition is switched off.

Problem is the current draw. You might be alright, but if they are drawing (say) 3 amps then that is a fair amount. I have melted the wiring to an ignition switch from a similar extra current draw (from changing a headlight bulb). While you would hope the fuses would cope with this, they tend to cover too many circuits to be that useful.
