Only 3 miles on the clock, kind of depressing watching them go up though Laughing

Gorgeous bike Claire...so very shiny!
What's a 1200 like restricted, just out of curiosity?

edit: sorry, 1250.

Very nice Smile . One of the best naked based faired tourer I like. It has lower fairing and 6th gear not like CB1300S, decent protection not like ZRX, relaxed position not like VFR800. I like meters on GT better than ones on GSX1250FA.

Nice bike.... i ummed and ahhhed about whether to get the GT myself, but plumped for the SA in the end.
Good to see the engines are in black again, as they were on the B12.

I like it, I rode a 1250 courtesy bike last year and was impressed (I'm more of a v-twin man myself) I think my next bike could well be a 1250 and if I'm feeling flush a GSX1250FA

a 33bhp restricted 1250?? i'd get them out pretty quick. cant imagine it doing the engine any favours during the run in.

@Claire of Jeff

What mpg do you get, or how far can you go between fill-ups on that 19 litre tank?

I get around 40mpg if i'm riding around town or giving it fistfulls out with my mates on a Sunday.... but i can easily get well over 50mpg with riding sensibly. I most likely average 46/47mpg.
Its good on fuel because the torque is phenomenal compared to the old B12, so you are rarely out of 6th gear. So theoretically it does have a 200 mile tank range.

Its restricted on the throttle and as you are supposed to keep the revs under a certain amount anyway I dont think its making any difference Smile

after a couple of hundred miles you need to thrash it briefly though. Keeping the revs constantly low isnt too great for it in the long run

You actually understand very little compared to what some would assume you know about motorcycles, don't you Matt.

Do you actually know at what amount of revs the restiction plays a part? Doubt it.

You talk out your arse.

On the upside the bandit is a sexy bike and a perfect touring tool. on the note of the panniers i struggled to apply mine on the diversion in a reasonable manor but as time went on i find it more convienient just to leave them in place. I started using them every couple of days and combined with a few bungee cords the bike could carry 100litres+

well, on a 600 you're restricted to about half revs. Cant imagine it would be that much different on this. Want to sit down now?

Seems strange to restrict a 1250cc bike to revs. The Bandit 1250 does 87mph at only 4,500 revs.
Not that i know much about restrictions cos that legislation came in long after i passed my test, but i thought restrictions were to restrict the BHP.

They are, but it will be producing 33bhp much lower down in the rev range than something with a smaller engine.

As i say, i know fuck all about the restriction legislation on bikes. I was always under the impression that it was only 500/600cc that were restricted to 33bhp for 2 years.
I never even knew you could restrict bikes of over 1000cc and make them legal for someone on a restricted MC license for 2 years.

Hi

Doesn't really restrict it to revs. It will still rev out, just with poor torque (and hence power).

All the best

Keith
