 |
|
Although I'm supposed to be getting rid of all my bikes I've been offered a cheapy cheap 1995 GSXR400R which I'm quite tempted by I really like the looks of them but don't know much about them other than the handling should be excellent and the engine will need it's neck wrung to make progress whilst not actually being very fast...sounds like the perfect bike to me
Any opinions on reliability, running costs, day to day usability etc.?
Also any common faults to look out for when I see the bike? ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

0-60 in under 5 seconds and a top speed of 130mph is defiantly something you can make progress on!
Though it is true that they rev high and need revving out in every gear to keep up with anything modern. I got a bit tired of 80mph being 8000rpm on my 400 on long jouneys. They are also a bit on the small side so if your a big bloke i wouldn't get one for the commute. Otherwise they are great fun! Of the 400's i'd say the suzukis probably have the worst reliability record but provided its in good condition, you don't overpay and you treat it right it should have 10's of thousands of miles left in it. |

Ok, that's good to know, I suspected it may be the case. Think I'll go to have a look then, pricewise it'll be a swap for my XT350 with cash my way Amazing what old greenlaners are worth. ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

Maybe worth checking to see if it'san SP. The SP was the trick version and got a close ratio gear box(vey tall first gear if my memory serves me correctly) and more adjustable front forks(has adjustment for rebound on the tops) amougst other things, so naturally commands more money.
As Blue says the carb O rings are a well known weak point on them. ____________________ My Flickr |
