Hi

Going to have a look at a 250lc tomorrow evening. Anything specific to look out for?

It's still got it's centrestand but unfortunately is missing the rear mudguard.

I know it will have probably been down the road in it's life, but if there is anyone on here that owns one, any advice appreciated.

kthxbye Mr. Green

Hi

Check the engine and frame numbers. They should match (but plenty will have had an engine replaced), but they were stolen so often watch out for butchered numbers.

All the best

Keith

Be immediately wary if the bike doesn't tickover nicely.

Generally speaking, if the bike has survived 30 years of hooligan abuse, it's probably in reasonably sound condition. Most of the raced ones hit the scrapheap 20+ years ago.

Just look out for the obvious stuff and you should be OK.

Engine and frame numbers match, apparantly. Had one owner for the last 20 odd years. Fingers crossed, hey.

Find out when it last had the top end done, how many times it has been done, what size piston etc. None of it is a problem, but it's still nice to know a bit of history, and this might be your only chance to get it.

The rear shocker was not exactly the best from new, if the guy you’re buying it from, is of average build and the shocks on max preload, it’s knackered!
A nice aftermarket shock should cure any probs.

They’re pretty bullet proof really, and easy to fix, wouldn’t mind another one myself!
Very Happy
