Trousers/Jeans whatever they're called!

Right, for almost 2 years I've been riding in normal jeans (jogging bottoms underneath if it's cold ) so I need some proper stuff!

My jacket is a A* textile one so would leather trousers look odd? I don't want to spend too much either as they will only get used on the longer rides (My long rides are most peoples short) as when I go to uni it's more practical to wear my jacket, boots, ect with normal jeans

I never quite understand why people are so hung up about how they look, on a bike? If you buy black everything, then it should all inter-change and look aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

I wear leather jeans and textile jacket most of the year round, and I've never been stopped by the Fashion Police and told I'm in need of Gok Wan's assistance.

You could still wear jeans if thats what you prefer. Just get either a pair of Hood or Draggin jeans.
Couldn't tell you which is best but I'm sure people on here have used them and could give advice.

Textile jackets + leather trousers are the coppers choice (not that that might convince you). I asked a charming officer at BikeSafe why they stuck with textile top + leather bottoms, apparently it offered the best compromise. I asked what happened when it rain, he replied "My legs get wet".

So what's your budget, you can get some half decent textiles trousers for £100, 2-3mm leathers starting at £150, and some excellent textiles for £200 from the likes of Hein Gericke (0% finance over 6 months, 10% deposit).

Alternatively if jeans are your thing, Hood or Draggin' jeans (kevlar panels) plus some windproof leggings from Edz will keep you "safe" and warm, throw on some walkers waterproof trousers and bob's your uncle, but I still think you'd be looking at around £200 for all 3 items.
