Had enough of caning the strom keeping up with mates so have deceided dealers offered me £2200 so ive deceided to let her go after 2 years of fun.

The dealers got an R1 for £2k on a 1999 with 1 prev owner FSH in imaculate condition and 3 month engine + gearbox warranty. Ive always wanted one since i was tiny.

Anything i should look out for when im checking her over beside the usual bearings brakes and shocks.

£2000 is cheap for a dealer, even if it is winter. I'd be slightly wary.

Thats exactly what i thought seems very cheap. Doesnt have millege on the add so it may be high or something. Gonna take a look tomorrow if it seems good ill snatch his hand off.

Doesn't seem that excessively cheap generally, but a bit cheap for a dealer maybe.
I've seen a couple of private K1 GSXR thous for £2k (one a bit tatty, one clean but with plain white bodywork.)
I presume it's fairly high milage - may just be it was a part exchange and they want to sell fairly quickly.
I've seen early R1s sell for £1500 to £2k on ebay, so it's not too beyond the realms of possibility.

And with 1 prev owner and FSH within reasonable boundaries the mileage shouldn't be that much of an issue

Especially if its in immaculate condition, good luck mate, and don't let a bargain slip by

personally i would buy it and check it over test rides etc and if its all fine then keep it but if theres a fault or two i'm sure you could sell it back on for the same price you bought for

Remember to take it very easy, even when tyres are warmed up - ignoring the 98 R1 jokes, it is still a pretty fast bit of kit.
Found that you can still easily spin a 600 up yesterday - in a straight line, so I was fairly cautious on the corners so I didn't test the limits of traction there! Looks a lot icier today here.

Think shes gonna stay in the garage till the ice is gone pollishing and cleaning her. Then get used to her gradually.

Getting everything sorted hopefully monday.

Im going to be sad to see the strom go

Just remember it's probably making the peak power of the 650 at under half revs. However, of course it is geared a lot higher too - so just change up early and use the masses of mid-range to start with and you'll be fine .
Open the the throttle in a gear topping out at 100mph like you could on the 650 and things will probably go wrong.

Even still,

If you're slightly wary, get the bike and put it in for a service. That's always a good starting point. You can't always guarantee when the bike was last serviced. That way, you'll have a base from where to start in terms of replacing parts or upgrades. High-milage thous are nothing to worry about as long as its been well looked after and serviced.

well got the ball rolling had a sit on her today and played revving the engine.
Shes got full service history 1 owner from new immaculate condition new chain tyres and brakes, datatool alarm and scotoiler.

Only downside is shes got 57000 on the clock.

After about 5 mins of thinking about it on the way home ive decided to take the leap and put down a deposit. Unfortunately the guy who handles PXs is off till Monday..... wonder if they will give me his address i can go see him HAHAHA

That high mileage would explain the lower price then but if you've had a go and the bike sounds happy then I'm sure it's going to make you happy Enjoy
