Right well I've had the bike (NSR) back from a long visit at a bike shop as it was getting a replate and new piston kit and gaskets. Seemed ok at first when I got it back then I noticed the 2nd ride i went on the engine temp went to half way. I've never noticed it do that before. Then last night I went out and the temperature shot right up into the red all of a sudden. So I pulled over and let it cool. There was some steam coming out of it. Then I checked the coolant and it was completely dried out. So I filled it up with 50/50 water and antifreeze till it was at the mark it's meant to be at. Now whenever I drive the bike it over heats in 10 seconds no matter how slow I go. It's fine if it's Idling though. Can anyone help me? Please?

I did notice that each time I stopped for a while to have another look. There was a tiny little puddle of stuff left behind from where the bike was standing. It wasn't much. But I'm not sure what it was and it sure is suspicious.

Will do. Cheers. Is it likely to have done any damage to the bike do you think?

Hi

Does sound like it is leaking out from somewhere. Could well just be a loose hose clip. Hopefully you can just tighten it, but if you have ridden it while it is overheating (and not just running a bit over temp) then it is likely to have warped the head or barrel.

All the best

Keith

possibly an air lock as well, when your refilling the radiator are you doing it through the radiator filler cap or the expansion type bottle?

Just something else to consider.

Sounds like your head is warped, cause the pressure from the cylinder is bypassying into the coolingsystem, therefore spuwing out the stuff you see each time you stop to let it cool down.

Gotta shave the head and check your head gasket.

Right, the answer to the question is that the 'spigot' (spelling?) had popped half out. This was what was causing the leak. Hope this might come in useful for anyone else with the problem in the future. Doesnt seem to be any damage to the bike that I can see yet. So fingers crossed.

Thanks for the help guys.
