It reminds me of Fish paste butties made with thin sliced bread, tinned mixed fruit in a glass bowl and cups of hot weak tea.

It's for a different generation. I've performed a lot of worship music in my time for various churches as a drummer and always with people my age and who love making it sound rock and roll.

Someone must watch it for it to be still on tv. I dont, my skin melts when I used to skim past the channel on a sunday out of bordom. In the days when you had to wait to guess what was on and sky wasnt there to tell you.

Seriously? Laughing I would think that's pretty petty but then each to their own Razz I don't do it any more but growing up it was near enough forced upon me and I ended up enjoying it anyway.

Good to know that I'm cool otherwise though Thumbs Up (I play real gigs now instead BTW)

There's nothing wrong with batenberg cake..

In my house sundays was Salmon & Shrimp paste sandwiches and Bullseye (nowt in this game fer two inna bed..)

I would only watch SoP if their guest band was the WuTang Clan.. or possibly Rockbitch.. "for viewers of a sensitive disposition, todays edition of Songs of Praise may contain scenes of a violent or sexual nature.." Very Happy

Is songs of praise protestant? think thats why we never watched it here. Their version of the lords prayer is longer.

It is all Christians faiths. The reason the CofE one is longer is because we aren't rushing to play with the alterboys. Laughing

I love that stuff. It's great to sit down with a cup of tea, a log(?) of malt loaf and the butter spread. Screw that carrots and dip nonsense, I'll take maltloaf and butter.

Dip, bite, sip. Repeat until consumed. Thumbs Up

I prefer the bus driver's version.

Quote:
Our Farnham, who art in Hendon
Harrow be Thy name.
Thy Kingston come; thy Wimbledon,
In Erith as it is in Hendon.
Give us this day our daily Brent
And forgive us our Westminster
As we forgive those who Westminster against us.
And lead us not into Thames Ditton
But deliver us from Yeovil.
For Thine is the Kingston, the Purley and the Crawley,
For Esher and Esher.
Crouch End.

I remember sitting through almost one whole episode when i was younger. I went with my mate to see his gran.
We sat there quietly with just that programme running and the ticking carridge clock keeping perfect pace, nice and warm, sipping tea, eating sandwiches and cake....her place smelt like baking and warm wolly clothing.
Very sweet lady, always had time to bake and chill out, the programme made me want to sleep.
I dispise most things about religion for how its made some people turn out, but i do envy that feeling of complete chilled out mood with food and tea. Angelic

they were recording at a church in my home town a few years back, They got everyone to sing a couple hymns then change seats so it looked like the cameras had been there two different weeks

Songs of Praise is one of those things that I appreciate not having to watch now i'm an adult and free. Sunday evenings used to be Songs of Praise courtesy of my mum, Antiques Roadshow courtesy of my dad and fish paste sandwiches sound familiar or welsh rarebit (malt loaf was for breakfast). Combine all that with the fact it was back to school the next day and Sunday nights were truely crap.

Sunday nights were OK as long as I got the bath water before my brother.

So, what's with the 4 freaks who've said they watch it? Come on, out yourselves!

Smile

I watch it occasionally, for a few minutes, just to be in awe that such people exist. I used to be contemptuous, but these days I'm kind of glad there are people like that, if only to balance out the extremes of human evil.
