Ok, ill make it brief.
I moved into my flat in November.
Outside my door is a courtyard which is on the back of a bike shop.
The bike shop, being the nerds that they are (Its a Honda shop by the way) wont let me park in the courtyard even though there's loads of room. If i didnt park it there i have no choice but to leave it some way down the road somewhere, just randomly parked on the side of the road.

I had the brainwave of putting my bike in my hallway, its worked perfectly. Out of the bad weather and secure. I haven't told my landlord as they weren't much help in the first place, they are nice enough people i guess i just haven't got round to it.
Anyways, the young guy who sorted all the detail for my flat is popping round today to show the ahndy man the damp problem in my hallway. He will see the bike, its an unexpected visit and im at work. Confused
I have no idea if he'll be pissed when he see's my bike just inside the door, i dont know if for 'safety' reasons i shouldn't have a bike full of petrol in my flat.
Anyone had a similar problem? If he moans and says take it out, im gonna have to say, find new tenants because im not selling the bike. I dont want to do this though because i love the place.

An unexpected visit? Tell him you require 24 hours notice to make access arrangements!

With the flat that we rented for a while it was in the agreement that we couldnt put bicycles in the hallway, nothing about motorbikes Laughing
So maybe you could argue that you were never told you couldnt!

But as SlimRick said, try asking them for more notice- they generally give some sort of notice that they are coming round.

Sorry, i say unexpected but they emailed me and said they'd be round Tuesday and they'd call. They didn't, and then today he called me.

Yip your required to be given 24 hours notice before he can come round. If he lets himself in without giving you this notice he has broken the contract and not only won't the bike get moved, but he won't get any rent either Laughing

For future reference may be worth getting clarification on the ownership of the courtyard.
As it's outside your door you obviously have access rights.
Question is what, if any, boundary is there on your rented property.
IMO would be ok to park within your boundary, even if only temporarily.

I live in a flat too. Parking space for bike was the most important point when I searched for my flat. Parking inside the flat isn't popular here. I had to search for flat which has bicycle parking that has roof, lockable, enough space, not filled with others bicycles.
I could find one luckily because I live in country side, where most use mainly car only, and land price is cheap. If I would be transferred to Tokyo again, it's nearly impossible to find such a flat.
By the way, my flat has only one room and it costs me £350 per month. If I park inside my room, I can't live inside.

I'm assuming keeping a motorbike indoors would void the flat insurance and then your landlord would be well pissed. But saying that my dad used to keep his motorbike in the kitchen and he got a letter from the landlord asking him to put cardboard under it to save the floor from leakage.

Sorry, haven't been online much past few days.
The landlord came over and i heard nothing back from him. He would have been straight on the phone if there was a problem but he's generally an easy going bloke. Thumbs Up

I've put some old carpet under the bike so that it doesn't mark the one fitted.
