We all know bikes have souls. We all know that they have personalities. But I am begginning to think my CB125 Super Dream has a bludy PHOBIA!

I had a Range Rover once that had a phobia... it didn't like the damp. Understandable really, with an anorexic octopus of a distributor, though curiouse how I would take it through wheel high river fords, and it wouldn't miss a beat, yet drive into mist on the welsh mountains, and it would start missing like buggery, and if you opened the bonnet, witness an electrical storm going on!

However, this 'ere Super Dream's phobia is more sort of agrophobic.... It doesn't like Leicester!

Strange... or maybe not.... but I bought it IN Leicester.

Snowie is FROM leicester, and she couldn't wait to get out of the ruddy place, so I can understand the sentiment, but this is a bludy motorbike!

The story; bought IN leicester, last July. Brought it home, fixed it. Gave it to snowie to go to college.... in Leicester.... It got her there.... but it 'just conked out' she said.

So I went and recovered her with the car, and brought it home. couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with it, apart perhaps from sticking carburettor floats.. perhaps... So 'fixed' she went back to Leicester.

THIS time it decided to throw a complete electrical hissy fit, and start cutting out. Recovered her again, turned out to be a loose earth strap! Back to Leicster.... another 'problem'! Recovered yet again.

Meanwhile, I had noted it smoking rather heavily, so did a top end rebuild. Bike seemed to work pretty good, and I rode it to Coalville, and back. No problem. We didn't go anywhere near Leicester. and about town and round and about here, ran great.

Snowie's CBT came up, and after passing, she wanted to go back to Leiceter.... I was dubiouse, but we went over, her on the pup, me on the corporal. It conked out, at our second stop, and I had to recover it! Looked like the cam chain, so I wipped the engine out and swapped it, so I could keep the bike working, while I fiddled with the bowls of the engine.

Replacement engine, has been in over a month, and apart from a sticky starter motor, I replaced this weekend, been fine, tootling about town, and trecking out to Tamworth, or over to Coventry, trundling about with snowie 'Practicing' for tests.

She had a Mod 1 today.... in Leicester..... she wanted me to go along with her for moral support, having fallen off on the e-stop last time......

Got ALL the way TO Leicester, DAMN bike started playing up! thought it was the imobiliser, so pulled the plug on that..... cought the girl back up. 1/2 mile from the test centre, died! Nothing, NADA! would not go. So sat at the side of teh road, having a fag, wondering whether it was just too hot, hoping letting it cool down would make it better, till she was done.

Half an hour later, Snowie re appears, and bike would NOT play ball.... so I parked it up, and suggested 2upping home, and coming back with the car, for it.

"You dont want to leave it HERE!" Snowie suggested "BAD area!"

I was pigged off with it! "It's insured, may be a blessing!"

The bike heard me, and decided to start!

We rode off, the bike not 'happy' but moving now. Until I missed a turn, and went 'straight on' towards Leicster city centre, rather than left, to skirt the centre and head back out....

At which point it started popping and farting and making a right racket, and back firing, just as tow police women walked accross teh crossing infront of me!

B'st'd bike!

Taking the next left, started behaving itself a BIT better.... and as we got further and further out of teh city, actually settled down.....

By the time we got to Early Shilton, was running reat, and raced up to 60 on the new bypass!

Home stretch, through Hinkley, was raring to go!

Last mile, before the house, suddenly 'remembered' it was supposed to be 'sick' and started stuttering, half heartedly!

This is BIZARE!

I have a bike, that seems to have cognicant inteligence, is paranoid, and phobic! Of leicester!
Only the last one I can understand!

Not a bike but i had a Renault 5 that did not like the UK. Broke down every other day (choke problem) I took it to France for two weeks and it did not miss a beat until i came home. I am sure it was laughing at me some days.
I also had a Datsun that did not like hot days. The starter motor would not spin unless i threw a bucket of water over it.

I would like to know how you discovered that in the first place. Was it a Basil Faulty moment and you tried to drown the car in frustration?

Cheers

Almost a Basil Faulty moment. It started out a cold day and got hotter. After trying many a different test i thought why not as the starter felt hot so whoosh and after a min or two it started up. I lived with it for a while then changed it as if i stalled the car at lights it was embarrassing going into the boot for water all the time.

.... my cb125 tdc hates its rocker cover being removed.

It throws hot oil at me all the time if i even touch the rocker cover, and the if seal isnt put back just right it chews them up and spits more oil at me.

My Cagiva Mito was Emo. Tried killing itself whenever we were out. I used to have to patch it up with cable ties and gaffa tape.

Both of my recent bikes were scared of the rain, and only slightly less bothered by the cold. Bloody things Rolling Eyes
