Hello all.

I have a 1997 GSXR 600 SRAD that's misfiring under little load.

It only does it when pootling around in 2nd gear when filtering etc., and seems fine when under more load.

Now, the plugs have been in there for a while to be fiar and could do with a change, so this will be the first thing i do, but what's holding me back is that it's fine on idle eventually.

It's been cold the last couple of days so maybe carb icing is a factor?

Some times i have to struggle to keep it running when i've been filtering for a while, which again could point towards carb icing.

The fual that's in tha tank has been in there since beginning of November, but i don't think that has much to do with it?

So plugs and filter and general service is on the cards - but the only other thing i can think of is coil packs, but i thought they were only prone to failing under heavy load?

Thanks in advance,

David.

Mine does the same mate. I've replace my ignition coils along with new spark plugs. I think it must be either carb icing or a fuel supply problem, may be a clogged filter or something.

It only seems to happen when poodling at about 4500/5000 rpm through town like you said.

When we had the snow I gaffa taped my rad up, too keep the engine nice and warm, and that helped a lot. So I leaning towards it being carb icing.

Let me know if you find a solution.

Carb icing will generally be worse at higher rpm I believe - more airflow to cool.
