My honda varadero 125 has been good as gold gven lots of long runs but just recently found a very odd thing happening.

If I go for a run of say 10 miles or more where is it sitting in top gear at 55-65 most of the way when i get back into the town it does nto want to idle properly causing me to have to set the revs at 7-8k or stall just to pull away in 1st and it feels like i am trying to pull away in 2nd.

However about the town driving it is great starts first time no probs at all.

Any suggestions?

It could be any number of seemingly insignificant maintenance issues. Or it could be running lean once the engine warms up?

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

firstly, when were your valve clearances checked? make sure that you have the right mixtures and that your spark plug leads are on securely. also, you checked that your choke isnt on?

im going to go with valve clearances...

Well think i just sussed it out yerterday and nothing to do with the engine at all(Thankfully) I believe it was the front brakes, as I put new pads on a few weeks ago, small runs are fine but if I take it or a long run when i bled the brakes last time I left very little space for expansion and now finding when it heats up it is jamming the brakes on and I just never noticed the brakes sticking.

Thanks for th esuggestions though

You shouldn't need to. Remove and clean the brake pistons, the seals may also need replacing.
