I was stripping the bike down yesterday to give it a good clean and have noticed that the headstock is cracked. Is this something that can be repaired or is the bike pretty much only good for spares?

What bike? Aluminium or steel crack? Pictures would help.

Even if it's fucked, there isn't actually that much to the frames. You ought to be able to pick up a second hand frame for somewhere around ?50.

Breakers get left with piles of frames after they've stripped all the other parts off them.

Hi

Might be repairable, but I would make sure the person who repairs it really knows what they are doing with alloy welding.

Would be illegal to have a repaired frame on the road in Germany I think (ie, German registered).

All the best

Keith
