Got my Front 207RR fitted last night. After a little trip to the bike club we decided to go for a ride to scrub them in a bit. Was only out for 45 mins or so (Including failed wheelie attempts, upsetting me no end). When we got back I checked the softness of the tyres. They were ACTUALLY sticky. You could press the tyre and it was soft. I always thought this was a euphemism for good grip.

with your wheelies dean, try doing them as your pulling off from the lights and when you hit about 5-7k, your suspension loads clutch it then. when you do that the suspension loads and aids you up into the air at a slow and less scary speed.

Soz if you already know that!

Yes that is a good sign. On the 090's I have you really have to pull to get your finger back if you press into the rubber, very sticky when warm and like glue when hot.

Kevo.

Deano, I'm quit sure the technique for a Blade is different to a VFR400, dumping the clutch at 9K on the Blade will no doubt land you on your ass Laughing

I had a Bridgestone 090 on my RVF400, and it was well grippy (more grip than u need really) but it didn't last long. I had it fitted in Jan and had to get new tyres in July - did about 2500km's on it...

I'm seeing around 4k miles from a rear and 5-6k from a front.

Your bike suspension, chain or something is wearing that tyre out too quickly. Unless your riding like Rossi on steriods!.

Just to add to the above that the last rear of 4k included two tracks days and the tire lost alot from those, still managed 4k miles before being on the 1mm line.

Regards,
Kevo.

Mine was well knackered after 3000km at the most! I totally finished it off in France and had to ride careful going home because the tread got all hard and really slippy...

The suspension was pretty hard, and it rode in a straight line as far as I remember! What bike have you got yours on??

Same bike, RVF400 NC35.

No major mods other than a Micron can.

Although mine is mostly fun rides rather than serious motorway stuff. Straight line riding would probably kill the tyres alot faster as your not using the edges at all.

Kevo.

Dean.... How the fcuk can you not power wheelie a FarterBlade???? I am to no end confused about this, there is no way you can not lift the front on the throttle in first, it's just not possible... All you have to do is crack the throttle open from 10k or so, is that so difficult??? Razz

Are you sure your name isn't Andrew... Cos I'm pretty sure the only person who has trouble cracking a throttle is him. Wink Razz Very Happy

Yeah but Andrew has 95 miles before reserve so it does pay not to power wheelie Smile

Zim I thought he was referring to 2nd gear wheelies because do know there is enough power it up in first

I try cracking the throttle in 1st and 2nd and it doesn't pop up like you say. It does when I crack it from about 5MPH and it hits the Powerband. I think I'm still leaning too far forward.

Dean, it should come up in 1st at any revs just by twisting the throttle, if not then try backing off then quickly opening it again. Also having a half-full tank of petrol doesn't help...

I'm pretty certain you are leaning too far forward. When I was learning stand up wheelies on my bike I noticed in the pictures that I was leaning way too far forward so I corrected this and it now goes up quickly, just ashame I shit myself when it goes too high.
