no more than 1500 rpm, about 1200rpm ideally

Yeah, mine is pretty happy hovering around the 1k mark, i am going to ajust it to bring it up a little though as it sounds like its going to quit sometimes althoug it hasnt stopped yet Smile

there should be an adjustment knob near the carb, that raises or lower the idle rpm. Some are screw adjusted on the carb body

I don't own an NSR but someone with one will answer where exactly it is

i suggest getting the haynes manual, its good bed time reading. Your learn alot just look and reading it.

These books also cover the service intervals, get one off ebay for a tenner - money well spent

1400 rpm + - 100
set pilot screw at 2 1/2 turns out
start and warm the bike for 5 mn then with the idle screw (the big with the spring) turn in or out to set 1400 rpm

Is idling to low likely to harm the engine?
Not that I could see it doing so but my bikes pretty happy idling right down to 1k and its yet to die on me yet Thumbs Up

no harm in idling too low, it will run low enough till it conks out Laughing
