With nuts and bolts i'm fine but electrics tend to confuse. my 89 zxr 750 won't charge up the battery. took the alternator cover off and checked the seperate regulator and rectifier for output. getting 11.1v off the regulator and 2.8a. i get nothing off the rectifier. i would take the alternator off and have the whole lot checked but it's belt driven so not easy. so the question is: has the regulatorm rectifier or alternator gone?

check the connector that goes into the recifier, then the connector going out of the rectifier, if it goes in, but not out, the rectifier is to blame.

you are probably measurIng the battery voltage on the regulator output, not the actual regulator output! You need to make the same measurement wIth the engIne runnIng and stopped, the dIfference Is the regulator output.

Also, when measurIng eIther sIde of the rectIfIer - do both - you should be measurIng AC volts.

Also, don't try doIng thIs at all unless you are totally sure your battery Is In good condItIon otherwIse you'll get mIsleadIng results.
