Greetings, I have had a thread going on the workshop section, but thought I would make one here as well as I dont think I should post updates there.

I started the Build with a 50CC liquid Cooled Peugeot Speedfight 2.

It was a non runner and it had a melted Temperature sensor. That was what I knew of when I bought it.

I made the mistake of going straight for the Cylinder, and opening it. This made it flood with coolant. yay! Embarassed , first I thought it had been sitting there for a while, as I saw a crusty gasket, but it came to me in the bed what actually must've happened.

I had it sitting over the night with fuel and oil down there to make sure it was tight:

which it was. No harm done, I hope! Smile

I proceeded to take it apart, documenting most of what I did by taking pictures, which I have learnt in later times that I wish I was more thorough with Rolling Eyes

I finally came around to taking the Cylinder and Piston out, The piston also had melted Rolling Eyes :

Bought a new set of both, including gaskets so I was sure it would be allright, might've only needed the Piston, but I wouldn't know how to find one to fit the other anyway. Embarassed

I spent the following days cleaning the chassis and painting the coats:

First batch of paint was not as advertised, so I returned them and bought at another place, turned out better after that.

Got the First shipment of parts, this included a new battery, back light, cylinder and piston, gaskets and mirrors.

First attempt of putting the cylinder back on went fine, but I forgot to put a temperature valve back into the cylinder head and it had to come loose again, sadly I managed to snap a bolt this time Crying or Very sad

First thing I did the day after was to buy a torque tool, I did not find a store that had any of new bolts that I needed, so I ordered new ones, still waiting on these, but meanwhile I have them screwed in loosely using 4 of the right bolt below, just to keep it together while I work with it and wait for the new screws.

I also bought some new cooling hoses, as the ones I had were falling apart and was generally bad on the ends.
New ones didnt have the preformed bends, so its not as easy to work with, but I think it will work.
It was a bit hard to figure out where they were supposed to go Rolling Eyes

but I found out:

I have also started putting the front back together, I am currently still waiting for a new Pump and 4 new Cylinder head Bolts.

This is how it is standing at the moment:

The Exhaust was also really rusty, so I fixed it up. used some liquid to turn the rust to metal and then I painted over that, turned out beautifull if I can say that myself Smile

So thats what I have been doing the last 3 weeks, will update when I get the last parts and when/if I get it to run!

Silicone spray like this:
Click me.
Used it on my Speedshite 100 before buying the VTR1000F while letting my arm recover from nerve damage.

It rubs off and looks twice as shit, the silicone spray will just need topping up when you wash the bike.

Or use boiled linseed oil on faded plastic, like every sensible person does.

Or this! Not done this myself as buying a tin of spray takes less effort for the lazy people like myself. Thumbs Up
