owning a XR125L one year on...... whats your story?

Well Iv owned my XR for a year and doubled the mileage from buying it (brought it at 9000 now its at 18000)

Really could not say enough good things about this bike. It has started EVERY single time i pressed the button. Pulls me along at 60mph with no problems and it only costs me ?6 to do 100 miles!

Such a fun little bike to ride. It has the CG engine so you know it can stand the test of time thats for sure! I was really pissed off that my CG got nicked but at least I brought even a better bike!

stuff iv had to change..... keep in mind most of the stuff needed replacing before i got the bike

* 2 new tyres
* chain set
* new clutch plates
* new front disc

nothing major really for doing 9000 miles!

Iv been all over the UK on my XR and its always gotten me home. Never needed a recovery call out once *touch wood*

What about you lot? ever had a bike you know would never let you down?

i cant see myself ever selling my XR

many moons ago i had a Suzuki DR125 and it was a blinder
like you i went all over the country with it, and it never missed a beat!!!!
always started, in any weather
wish i had never sold it, as the idiot who brought it , smashed it up less than two weeks later

i had an old XL125 as well and that was quite a good bike (slow but reliable)

I've covered over 10k in the last 10 months or so on my XR - it too, doesn't seem to die. I've replaced the oil every 2,500 miles or so, recently replaced the rear tyre with 11k or so on the clocks - other than that, I've ridden it and cleaned/serviced it.

Surprisingly, except for a spot of rust here and there on the frame, the bike looks a lot more presentable nearing the end of the winter than my CBR6 did last year - perhaps because it's very easy to clean.

Sadly, the XR's up for sale soon. I'm trying to cut down on bikes this year.

My first bike which my folks bought brand new so i could commute to college on. The only downside is that in 1 year of ownership and after 8000 miles, I ran the bike on neglect, doing 1 oil change and nothing else. I regularly cleaned and lubed the bike and it did well in the London traffic. I miss wheelieing and stoppying the thing because it was such a hoot. Got introduced to the now-defunct BCF Herts lot.

Had mine for 3 years now - though looking to trade back up to a big bike as I seem to be spending more time on M-Ways and A roads.
Thrashed mercilessly, ridden through 3 winters (smothered in ACF50 (the bike, not me)) yet still 100% reliable with incredibly cheap maintenance (0.9l oil change and a quick check on the valve clearances every 6 months).
Highly recommended for anyone dong a town / city commute - especially with the taller more upright riding position than the mechanically similar CG125.
