have just brought a zxr400 h model , brought as abit of a pig to do up as am a zxr lover , have done bits but some little scrote robbed my tool box which had everything needed to do 99percent of jobs in it , im sick as a dog bout that !!!!!!! , i am having trouble with it ticking over , kinda holds at 2k then drops , also on the side stand you can set the tickover then stand the bike upright and the tickover changes , bike runs fantastic otherwise and pulls fine thru the rev range which has me abit stumped , dont want to fidle with jets or screws or fuel just yet as it runs fine , anyone any ideas as to what is making it do this ?? , will balancing cure it ?

balancing wont cure it, if youve got shit in your carbs like you said before you need to clean it out. (blocked pilot jets)

as for carb balancer, try ebay.

if you are balancing, you might aswell strip them and clean them, otherwise balancing a half blocked carb isnt gonna do jack!

Give em a clean, balance them and see how that works out.

Done everything today except balancing and its still doing it , oiled cables , stripped carbs , checked float heights , cleaned jets ,the only thing on the carbs that wasnt right was the pilot screw , have reset them at two and a half turns out and still no change , on its side stand it ticks-over higher than stood straight ,when i rev it it wants to hold at 2000rpm then drops to tickover , everything on the airbox side of things is fine , filter is clean , cables are operating ok ,the inlet rubbers are fine , i have checked and re-checked everything , only have balancing left to do , hope that sorts it or im stumped , anyone else had similar kinda thing , the side stand thing is just odd , any help gratefully accepted , thanks

When you put i on the stand, are you turning the bars to the side, and then straightening them up when lifting it upright? If so; Trapped choke or throttle cable?
