Bar Ends

Hi all
Well after my little slip on my driveway in the snow and the resulting scuff on brake lever and throttle rubber it made me think about bar ends , they dont seem too expensive(under a tenner on ebay), would they protect the levers and bars from damage or would they look daft on a 125 or maybe cool, and are they easy to fit?, it seems i would have to cut the ends from the bar tubes.

Most bikes have bar ends, if not all I would think.
If I remember rightly they are mostly for helping dampen vibrations in the bars.

They are usually screw in jobbies, very easy to fit and remove.
