So the ER6 is almost a year old and I'm trying to take out a Kawasaki extended warranty on it. Just had a chat with the dealer who went off and spoke to Kawasaki who require the following in order to allow the extended warranty...

1. Full PDI. Including checking the frame and forks for straightness. Wheels for dings all bodywork to be perfect and unmarked etc.
2. Full electrical check up.
3. Cold start check.
4. Hot start check.
5. Must not have been in any form of accident or had an accident repair.
6. Must not have outstanding finance.
7. Must have full service history preferably buy a Kawasaki dealer.

Now I can understand giving the bike a check over and checking it's serviced but this seems to go just a bit too far especially on point 7. as most ER6's were sold on the excellent Kawasaki 0% finance offer. All seems a bit extreme.

Confused

When I bought my Versys (on 0% finance), the Kawasaki warranty still stands if you do the servicing yourself but use OEM parts and have receipts etc. I wasn't and don't plan to take out the extra warranty on my machine but can understand why someone in your position would want to - after all, it's one of the main reasons why you bought it, isn't it? (the unlimited mileage warranty bit anyway)

Worth consulting another Kawasaki dealership if you can - I have a high opinion of Lloyd Cooper so far (2 visits - 1 on initial purchase, other on first service)

Warranty Direct
No idea what they are like price wise of even if they are any good at paying out.

I cannot understand why 5 or 6 even fall under the checks for a extended warranty....
Unless they are worried in the case of 6 that the finance co will force them to fix problems that they would otherwise find a way to avoid paying out.

Kawasaki's own words on the policy
Quote:
Kawasaki CARE (K-CARE) WarrantyPlus extended warranty programme provides you with all that is needed to ensure your investment pays dividends year after year, in terms of long and reliable service. K-CARE is the easy, hassle free way to keep you going, wherever you go.

As soon as the original factory warranty ends K-CARE steps in, without you ever noticing it. It extends the warranty coverage of your machine for as many miles as you may care to travel. If a part that is covered by the plan fails due to a manufacturing defect, Kawasaki will repair or replace the part without any charge - simple as that. No surprises and no charges for labour or parts. If it?s covered it?s covered.

I'm not sure if the warranty is worth the paper its written on to be honest, I'm currently awaiting for a request to repaint the engine under warranty as i've got paint flaking from the front of it. 10000 miles less than 2 years old. Any car which had paint issues would have it fixed without an issue. Dealer has said not to expect much.
