My battery is fucked and I need another one.

I went to buy another one and there all have different codes on them, most notably and "AS" Number which seems to increase as the price of the battery increases.

There are the choice of 3AS, 4AS, 8, 10, 12, etc.

What does these mean ?

I have a sports bike 650cc. Will any battery do ?

These are all bosch (quite expensive) batteries I got these codes from, so dont know if they are specific to that manufacturer or not.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't got a clue what the number mean. What I did was phone up and tell them the model of my bike and ask them to give me the part number I need.

Different bikes can use different batteries as far as I know, I was quoted a different part number for my GSXR to my mates ZX6R off the same supplier

Batteries vary in physical size, voltage (either 6 or 12v ) and what is called the cold cranking amps - this is the measure of how much cranking power the battery has, kind of....
A big diesele engine will need a battery with a lot more amperage than a little 50cc two stroke for example, just to crank it over.

You need to find out which battery your bike needs by either looking at the one thats already in there, reading the manual or contacting a dealer.
