Well guys I'm 17 next month and this is the fourth vehicle I've purchased in less than 11 months but my first real big bike.
Today I picked up my cbr 400rr nc23 with custom paint job, art racing can and 12 months mot. Bought her for 720 pounds

A few negatives as you'd expect for such an old bike, noticed the subframe is quite rusty, cant get the mechanism to unpop pillion pegs from fairings to come out even though the guy pushed it in with ease when I was there, no barrel for rear seat. Paint has a few bubbles/imperfections which are mainly on the tank/headlight unit.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, original colour was yellow and has been replaced with a two tone green/yellow which is bubbly in places.
A nice bike just needs a bit of work....

I would second what Shaane said. Dont waste time or money on it cosmetically - you wont make anything back on it. Just make sure its mechanically sound and ride the thing. Then when you have more dollar and more experience sell it on and buy the best you can afford. Thumbs Up

Have you got ~£450 to spend on suspension?
Also get yourself on 400greybike.cc

That's pretty much what the plan was, buy a cheap 400 in reasonable condition to get some experience on. If I spent several grand on one I'd be too scared to risk riding the thing incase I dropped it but with I wont mind quite as much Wink

As I only plan on keeping this bike up to two years and don't have a great income I'd quite like to avoid spending that much in one go if possible. I'm just starting college so don't have time to get the work to pay for such expensive parts either!

Me spending money on it is basically sorting out the rusty sub frame and repainting it with hammerite paint or something, possible digital clocks and after that not too sure....

I'll have a quick browse at that site now Wozza!

My ninja was my first big bike and it cost me 1850. Even at that price i regret it because i was scared of damaging it and i learnt nothing what so ever about riding.

Youd be better spending that money on some fresh fork springs and oil - I wouldnt 'gay up' an old bike, you will only regret it

Just had alot of work done on it apparently so I don't think I'll bother with the forks for now and like I said the clocks were just a possibility, haven't even looked into how much they cost yet!

Oil filter and new oil aswell as sorting out the rust is my main concerns for now!
