Ok so got this a few weeks back, didn't really think to post any pics so here it is.. the new toy to replace the XR440.. still have the XR440, in two minds to sell it or to "adventureize it"... prob going to sell it and get an Africa Twin for some touring though!

Whilst it's still kick start only and probably not as light as new bikes.... compared to the XR it's quite a big difference! The XR is suprisingly great, but the WR is easier to ride, weight is lower down which is great in ruts and technical bits. It's lighter to pick up and easier to start. As for power, it is bloody fast for what it is (Although geared quite low, only does about 70mph haha) the XR440 was a bit of a beast so they are fairly similar in power I'd say... just geared differently.

Have added a HEBO tool bag, GPS and frame guards since this pic Smile

I know the past two owners, got receipts for £3k++ of maintenance work in its' lifetime! Not wanted for anything, it's also had some light tuning by Bob Farnham and is putting out over 50bhp with dyno charts.. also has YZ cam and auto decomp. The hand guards are Moose metal ones with some custom fitted KTM plastic deflectors which I made fit, they are awesome Mr. Green

Only ridden it once since buying, but I love it!

Oh yeah, it's the same bike I played on a few years back when I was stunt riding! Loved it for wheelies!

Really pisses me off seeing all you guys down South of the border doing your greenlaning and stuff when up here we have so much open space readily available but if you are seen offroad on a bike then the farmer will probably just shoot you if the ramblers dont get you thrown in jail for disturbing a pheasant first! Evil or Very Mad

*Edit - rant over. Nice bike Thumbs Up

Nice bike. How much may I ask ?
It looks to be the same year/model as mine ... I was quite suprised how easily they start.
When warm its one kick ... and if you drop it then just pull the hot start button and its one kick again Smile

You have lost the downpipe heat guard like me I see Smile

Depends on:
1) Usage
2) If you follow the official Yamaha guidelines or the years of experience from owners.
eg:

Yamaha + Raced: Its a competition bike and if raced then it needs valves checking regularly and oil changing every other ride or so (I am not actually sure of the official line ... but you can find it easily via google)

Owners + Green Laning: Owners all speak of how solid the engines are ... especially the steel valved ones. If you change the oil every couple of months, then the things just keep running.
There are lots of storys on ThumperTalk of people checking valves and not having to do anything year after year.

The bikes are Solid with a capital S and in bold ... just change the oil regularly.

Define regularly.

Once a month, around 600 miles, a thousand miles etc?

Wicked bikes, had a WR400 but i bought it as a bit of a lemon and ended up spending half as much as it cost to sort it out kinda made me fall very quickly out of love with it. Just watch out on the kickstarter in the mud, don't knock it forward too hard or you can shatter the rachet and it's £150 a time for a new shaft etc!

Yamaha = Oil and filter every 600 miles + check valves every 300 miles.

Me = nothing like the above.

Hahaha to be fair, it looks awesome all smashed up and abused though Cool It'll be almost as clean again once I wash it up and fit a new radiator.. albeit with a few "scars" to the graphics! But bikes are for riding not looking pretty on the driveway Mr. Green

Seeing the £60 freshly fitted graphics all chewed up is a bit heart-breaking though Wink Smile Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
