As some of you will know, my cousin and I will be touring Europe from the 1st week of July.

However, having never done any touring or camping for that matter, we were looking for somewhere to go for a practice run.

We live in central Scotland (between Glasgow and Edinburgh) so were looking for suggestions for places to go (with riding distance) that would be suitable as a trial.

Originally we had thought about visiting the isle of Cumbrae (Millport) because this would involve going on a ferry, but as it turns out that the whole island is fenced off - the roads have fences on either side and there is no actual place to pitch a tent (except from the campsite on the island - but we want to avoid going to a campsite, to make it experience more realistic.

Has anyone ever been up with way before and has done any wild camping ?

And where would you recommend ?

Cheers in advance. Wink

Try the isle of Mull if you want to get a ferry?

The Lochaline to Fishnish ferry is cheaper than the Oban one and the run there is nothing if not entertaining.
