It's a Bat mobile for rich billionaire (and slightly paranoid) golfers.

How often do security forces engage in small arms firefights with "terrorists"? The contemporary terrorist seems to want to just bomb somewhere most likely dying in the attempt, not having a gunfight Rolling Eyes

All this terrorism sure is giving the arms industry a nice boost eh? Wink

A fair bit, the Moscow Seige, the Beslan Siege and the invasion of Chechnya and Georgia as well as the Indian hotel sieges.

In that bombing and such like is highly amateur, they could get a high casualty count by going to a busy street with an AK47 and shooting people from the roof tops.

I think this buggy thing is HIGHLY vulnerable to RPG and Ak47 the 7.62mmx54mm bullets require incredibly thick plate armour to stop hence its nothing more than a gimmick.

Fair point.

AK uses 7.62x39 shorts though Wink

The larger 7.62 is normally for MG's and long range rifles. I know what you mean and agree though the armour on that thing will fall to a fair few assualt rifles and even the crudest of anti tank/materiel rifles.

EDIT:

Good luck with that buggy if there are 7.62x54 about,

If the terrorists are packing .50's then you might as well run away right away.....

34mm of RHA - its insane!!

I can pretty confidently say it will not survive a .50 hit. I just did some calculations and if it only has 2m square (and it has a much bigger surface area) of 34mm thick RHA the armour alone would weigh 522 kg. Yet the whole vehicle is meant to be slightly under a 500 kilos.

A pretty piss poor performance I think.....

An AK will scare most people off, a mega criminal in Hong Kong called Yip Kai Foon, his gang managed to get AK47s, normal beat cops at the time were outgunned with their Smith & Wesson model 10 revolvers at scenes of robberies ran away.

They called in backup from the SDU and PTU (SWAT equivilent) and they ran away too Laughing

Ceramic/textile composites maybe.

Good thinking, but this thing looks down to a budget for $45k.

I have no idea of the price of armour compounds these days (or any days for that matter Very Happy) but I would have thought that ceramics are much more expensive that simple RHA plate.

Also if it takes flanking fire those vertical sides aren't doing it any favours. Of course being designed for corridors and such flanking fire is unlikely and the front is sloped to a degree at least. The upper portion with the window looks like it has a good chance of deflecting incoming rounds.

Also, I hope the tyres are run-flat style as the are quite exposed at the front. Failing everything else I think that if you managed to simply park two of these at each end of a corridor it would be quite an effective barrier, pinning those down in the middle.
