Hi all,

I was having problems with my YBR and managed to eventually find the carb draining screw and drained the carb which made my bike run normally.

I am however not totally free of the problem I was having where the bike would cut out at high revs and restart once the revs dropped. However this only happens now at a much higher speed and in the top end of the rev counter. So in 5th at 7.5-8k revs it cuts, im able to reach 55mph quite happily. It was happening in 3rd gear, at 7-8k revs and anything above 30mph was a pain.

Arrow Anyway today it huccupped twice at 7.5k revs and I was just wondering if this could be due to a build up of crap in the carb?
I am running the Redex liquid stuff through the engine hoping it will get rid of the build up...
Arrow I was also wondering whether the Redex could be causing the engine to cut a little as it's dissolving the buildup?

And Finally...

Arrow I wanted to pull the carb off the bike and take it apart and blast it with carb cleaner, but I can't get at the screws etc because of the limited room. Is there a tool that I can use that would be good at unscrewing in awkward places?

Thank you in advance.

Hey,
i have a can of "putoline" carb cleaner here and the directions say just run the engine for 5 mins, stop the engine, sprey the Carb cleaner into the carb inlet and leave for 2 minutes, start up again and its all gravey!

To be honest i did strip the carb down, get the rubber bits out, spreyed the heck out of it and left it for 5, spreyed again, put back together and ran within 15 mins of the first sprey...

Seemed to help the engine run a lot *healthier* but alas wasnt the problem so it still wasnt running right haha.

Damn engines!

Best regards

-Jvr

Ps, appologies but i have no clue about awkward unscrewing devices Neutral

Hey mate, there should be a little clap on the carb rubbers etc, like an exhaust clamp. This is the generic way of fitting a carb but i havent seen your model.
I can only assume you mean the bowl screws and tbh i'd be taking the carb assembly off so i could have 360 degree access to all of the carb. Life easier situation.

Yeah i see what you mean. I was just trying to get access to the bowl without having to pull all pipes etc off. Do the pipes come off quite easily with the carb? And can it be a pain in the ass to put them back on?

Sorry about the late reply but they should just pop off, just take your time.
The hardes thing will be undoing the carb bowl screws, they are often tighter than a jews wallet. Hitting them normally frees them up a bit for you to get a good grip and undo them.
