Suzuki EN125 not starting

Hey guys, new girl here.
I am having a lot of trouble with my suzuki. I have had her for about a year (I had the same bike previously, but had a crash - NOT my fault!)

Had no problems until I asked a "family friend" to sell the bike for me, he was supposedly quite handy with bikes, so I trusted him as he was a friend of the family. Months had past and no luck with selling the bike, I was getting quite pee'd off. Then I got a letter through the door from the DVLA saying the tax had ran out and I had to pay a fine or declare sorn, which made me a bit more pee'd off. To cut a long story short I managed to get the bike back, the sneaky basa had push started the bike while I wasn't there so when i went out the back it was already on, so it seemed fine to me.
Once he had left I went to turn it on - with no luck! I thought it might have been the battery so I gave it a charge - still no luck! I cleaned out the carb with still no luck.
I'm not very good when it comes to the inner workings of a bike (only been biking 2 years) so I've been trying google, youtube etc.

A lot of places are saying if you leave the bike for longer than 4 weeks the fuel goes bad, the bike has been lying for around 4 months.
I've had her back for around a month now but I've been too busy with work and too skint to take it to a garage, it may be my last resort because I am running out of idea's.

Sorry if this is a huge book but I am really stressed I would love my bike back up and running again for the good weather coming in..

has it been sitting outside and uncovered?? .... has the damp and moisture got in to it?? ...... might need to clean a few connections?

are you getting a good spark??
is the battery any good? = does it hold it`s charge?
fresh fuel is always good

Its been sitting in the garage for the time it was away from me, and just now its sitting dry inside.

The battery was always brilliant with me, so I don't really think its anything to do with the battery.

The spark doesn't sound great, I was thinking about having a look at the spark plug but I have never had to take it out so I'm scared I might damage it.
The thing is I managed to push start it a few times, and it worked fine, but then i turned off the engine and went to start it again with no luck.

I've taken out the spark plug and its fine, now I guess I would change my fuel?? can it really make that much of a difference? I was so sure it was the spark plug, just sounds like its not going to start at all
