My ZX636R is running really badly, firing on a random mix of 1,2,3 or 4 cylinders to the point of stalling when it's raining.

Bike hasnt been used much in the last few months but it last did this in november and a fresh batch of fuel seemed to sort the problem out so im presuming water in the fuel tank rather than damp plugs.

Is there an easy way of testing this theory out and is it worth trying to find the problem with the tank if this is the case or just buy a new tank?

My plan is to drain the tank on the next dry day day (hopefully this weekend) and get a fresh bacth of fuel in it to see if this proves my theory then take it from there.

Not sure if there are carbs on that bike, but if there are, it will be worth draining them at the same time.

CHRI5 off here added isopropyl (alcohol) which absorbed water in the tank and burnt as normal fuel. Not sure about that though.

id agree with the tank draining, although this can be a big job (is your tank on a vacuum tap?)

but it would be much easier to just whip a plug and see what condition is like. if water is gettin in it will leave corrosion on the plug.

i doubt the fuel will be causing that problem because all 4 cylinders will be gettin the same fuel so they should all be gettin the problem not just selected one.
