just a quick query that ive been pondering, would that engine flush you get in a can from halfrauds work in a bike as it does with a car?

Yes, but do you need it? You should only do a flush if you've been running a long time without an oil change and there's a likelihood of sludge. Otherwise just do an oil change.

If you do go for a flush, read the can. It's meant to be mixed with 4-5 litres of oil, so you should only use half. Don't ride the bike with it and don't operate the clutch.

But really, you shouldn't need it. If the oil is black and filthy I do an oil change, then another one 200 miles later. I use cheap oil.

Engine flush is for the most part a waste of time, especially in a bike engine that shares the oil with the gearbox. Why purposely dis-lodge dirt particles to flow around the engine?

If you really are worried. Get some cheapo 20/50 supermarket oil, usually £4.99 for 4 ltr and bung that in ride it for around 30 mins and then do another change of oil and filter.
Then bung in your normal oil... Of if like me you simply bung some more cheap stuff in Mr. Green

Agree with all the above

Using flush is pretty much a bad idea unless you've an engine that needs bringing back from the dead. Can cause more problems than it solves - dislodges stuff that's best left, err, lodged. And realistically if the engine's been badly looked after enough in order for it to need a flush, the chances are that there's significant engine wear caused by poor servicing anyway - so it's not likely to save it.

Ive always been told that if an engine needs an engine flush due to sludge, its probably not a good ideas to do it.

Reason being dislodged sludge is likely to cause oil starvation if it gets into the wrong areas.

A slower sludge removal program using lower concentrations of cleaning additives already in oil during very frequent oil changes is likely to be safer.
