Only had my gixxer for 5 months after having Honda NSR 125 for 2 years and now it feels like i have done it all, it goes fast, looks good, sounds well but still feels normal and exitement factor is decreasing Sad

Thinking of VTR 1000 SP1/SP2 or R1 after my insurance runs out on christmas ... or maybe i should get a shitty corsa and pay for insurance double of what i paid for my bike due to me being 19 ?

He isn't - he likes hogging right hand lanes.

Yeah, get yourself an R1, you will have something to brag about and pose on, since it is clearly not the challenge of riding you are into.

So yeah, go for it. Rolling Eyes

Obviously not riding it anywhere near its capabilities.

Added to the fact that Gixxers cannot be passed on until the owner has taken at least 2500 pics of it, thats just the law Wink

Sounds like you need to go on a trackday with your bike so you can realise how far you still have to go, or a California Superbike School day. The bike won't provide you with the entertainment you're expecting - that's something you have to learn to do yourself.

Throw it this way. Thumbs Up

Agreed with Geri, go do a track day or something on it and your love for the GSXR600 will resurface.

Well it sounds like there is something wrong with the bike. Give it to me, I'll take it off of your hands for nothing. I know, I know don't thank me - I'm a generous sort of a guy.

I'd suggest from your post that you're a straight line hero. Go and do some corners and you'll understand more.

Or maybe he's already going around the corners fast from his 125 and the heavier 600 doesn't add anything to it Wink.

I found myself 'bored' of the power on the 600 quite quickly myself. I then get a 143hp 'race tuned' zx9 and found myself 'bored' of that within a week at most - it didn't really offer much over the 600, seeing that the 600 would be on the limit of a bike's acceleration in first gear (front just about to lift), the zx9 would just keep that same affect going for longer.
Also, I found that to feel like you were 'trying' you had to be going silly-fast. I found nirvana in a RS250. Sure, it didn't have that kick up your ass, but it made road-riding a lot more fun.
I've got a vague plan to put a KTM200 engine in a light weight chassis, but, frankly, the RS (if you had sorted the front forks) would be fine for me on the road, where I won't go around corners so fast that I don't have a chance to react to what's coming.

Trackdays are definitely worth a look and I reckon a 600 is an ideal bike of choice - majority of people who start on bigger bikes tend to down-size in power in my experience.
Off-roading is also worth considering and offers plenty of fun in a different way.

I don't get it, I've got my shagged ZXR with a list of issues on it as long as your arm.

Had it a year and commute daily on it and everyday I wake I look forward to riding it even on the normal commute.

GSXR perhaps too good? too perfect?
Bike has to have flaws as that gives it character. You then start to have connection with it and start exploring the bike and your skill.

My views anyway.

If you want to go down the SP1/SP2 route, get a years worth of experience on a smoother litre twin first. It may not be much quicker than a gsxr600 but actually riding the thing is a bit of a crash course in why badly setup bikes can be borderline terrifying to ride Smile

Not if he doesnt corner the bike. Pretty sure even the SP1's suspension can handle accelerating down the straights Laughing

It's funny how people get 'bored' of bikes so quickly. I'm assuming that your bike isn't restricted.

Out-right speed isn't exciting per se -a 747 at 30,000 feet isn't particularly exciting, nor is a car at 150 on a highway.

Admittedly, I wanted to upgrade from my ER5, but that was more because of its overall condition. I knew that a better rider could have got more from it. Read some books and watch some videos on riding technique.

I don't get the bored thing either.

I am going to go against the grain here and recomend a smaller bike, something the OP has to really work rahter than just twist the throttle on.

If the only criterion for a bike's enjoyment is straight-line oomph, then even the fastest bike in the world will seem normal after a short while.

Harnessing, making use of the vehicle's abilities/deficiencies and attempting to master it is where the enjoyment comes from.

I'd be more worried about the god awful fueling and snatchy clutch giving him the scare of his life long before he got to a corner tbh Smile

Depends what you really want from a bike. But realistically if all you want is to go faster then you will forever be getting bored (just more of the time you frustrated waiting for an opportunity to get bored by the performance).

All the best

As above, there's a lot more than just speed. If you can't enjoy riding a bike for all of it's character, then every bike will be disappointing.

PS: I think you just got 0wned.
