I see some powdercoaters are now using a gloss chrome effect finish.
Have any of you had your bike frame powdercoated in polished metal chrome effect?

I don't think anyone has no.

Surely it's cheaper to just polish the frame...

Had an alloy type silver finish done on some bits as it looked great at the local powder coaters (was going to get the stuff done in black, and noticed a wheel that had done for a customer and instantly wanted that exact finish on my bits, not quite chrome, more like buffed and lacquered alloy)

Got the bits back and carefully fitted them
Looked great for a week or so but exposure to the crappy weather seemed to loose its looks almost in front of my eyes and already have rust forming on it and looks utterly shite so deeply upset the coat has failed only a matter of months after it being done

I will be going back to show them as there's obviously something gone badly wrong with the prep work / process or the powder they used

Not sure I can be bothered stripping the front end of the car again this year and will probably just mask off and dribble silver hammerite on the bits as it would look better/last longer Sad

Have seen people singing praises for a chap in Yarmouth for a very good chrome type powder coat finish that's supposedly pretty durable
If I recall his company name I will post back if someone doesn't beat me to it

Regards
Rob

Aerocoat is the company I was thinking of

https://www.aerocoat.net/index.htm

Got some pics of their handiwork on the site and the polished chrome type finish does look pretty good

Yes I saw that company in GT Yarmouth.

I have emaild a few powdercoat companies, most don't do the chrome effect finish.
I understand there are different products used, some not so good.

I would certainly want it to last and not rust for a considerable amount of time.

Anyone know of a good company in the Devon?
