What to mask when BBQ-painting a bike?

As above, help me compile my list of what I need to mask off for my own wellbeing!

Oil sight glass
Brake fluid sight glass
Brake disks
Tyres
Fork uppers where they might knacker the seals
Headlight etc

anything else?

For painting the header pipes, it's easier to take them off the bike as then you don't have to mask anything.

good shout. The headers on the NTV are in pretty tasty condition so I was thinking heat-wrap to preserve them until it inevitably blows up and I have to sell the remaining good parts for food money.

Hang on, if you're thinking of putting heat wrap on them, what are you BBQ painting?

Anything that might draw rust. BBQ paint is the cheapest matt black I can find, and I can do the engine with it too.

On that basis, mask everything that doesn't rust.

by that argument, don't mask the brake disks, however I'm thinking that could be pretty bad for my health.

Although actually the pads would probably wear it off, so fair enough, well played sir.

Just smear grease on the light lenses/anything you need to see through (speedo glass, etc) then spray it all, trying to avoid the disks.

Wipe the grease off after the paint has dried.
