Sebs comment made me re-think why I want a 1000 for my next bike. I've ridden an R1 but that's it and I didn't exactly scream the tits off it down the motorway as it was my mates and he was on my bike.

Question is, how much different will a newer 600 be from my 1999 ZX6R ? I assume it would be allot but maybe I'm wrong?

To be more realistic, I've been looking at ZX6R B1H/C and CBR 600RR3/4s.

I don't want to buy a 1000 and not enjoy riding it as much as a 600, it's not about the pose factor mainly (although that always had something to do with it) but a newer, nicer looking bike but above all, challenging to ride.

If I was to go for a 1000 now, re-assessing my finances, I would probably only be able to afford a 2000 - 2002 litre bike.

So, drawing from your experience of both 600/1000 sports bikes, which would you say is better for road use and the occassional track day in the future. Bare in mind I don't commute on it, purely pleasure!

Logged into youtube the other day and it suggested this video:

MCN: Can a £1500 sportsbike beat a GSX-R1000 K6?

Interesting?

Had the pleasure in owning a ZX6R B1h (636) and a 99 R1. Although they where both great bikes i think prefered the 636 for enjoyment of riding.

It felt smaller and more compact which i liked, was plenty fast enough (had a dyno print out of 115bhp), wheelied easily in 2nd, felt lively etc.

The R1 felt the better choice for every day riding. Handled the pillion better (although the pillion was far from comfy Laughing ) it was more torqey, felt longer but more stable.

Actually got a higher indicated speed on the 636 too (184mph on the limiter in 6th Laughing )

I definatly would not rule out 1000cc's and would love a newer one to compare (maybe somthing like a CBR 954 or even a Ducati 999 for shits and giggles.

Its something that you will only know by trying it for yourself.

Why not go to a few main dealers and blag a test ride on a few different bikes to get an idea of what a newer bike is like?

I know I'd like to Smile

I've tried blagging them to let me test ride them in a couple of local dealers but they want at least a year on a full license and I only got mine in July 2009 so they won't let me.

There's a local lad selling a CBR600RR3 round here, might blag him to get a test ride on it.

They're only saying that because they've guessed that you've got no interest in buying a bike from them. If you'd had your license for over a year then they'd be giving some other excuse. If they think that you're serious about buying then they will find a way to get you a test ride. Wink
