Hi guys, bought my first bike at the end of January, new to it all, first vehicle of any kind etc..

Was told by the guy selling it that he sends off some document to the DVLA and then they send me relevant documentation/logbook etc..

The form he said he's sending back, he ripped off section 10, in green, which is the 'New Keeper Supplement', but also I have Section 9, blank, but looking at it it seems it must be sent back to the DVLA by the seller?

I have both of those small sections unfortunately, so I'm a bit confused/worried.

Haven't got anything from the DVLA.

Anyone?

EDIT : Looking @ Section 9 it's for 'Sale/Transfer to the Motor Trade/Insurer/Dismantler' which isn't me, so I imagine that's ok? It was a private sale.

As long as you hold the green bit that is offically your V5 until the DVLA get off of their arses and sort you out, so legally you are covered.

It can take them months to get back to you, a thread in the main section mentioned they are now sending out letters apologising for the delay in contact and advising how long it is before they respond. Rolling Eyes

In short. it is normal for them to be this slow, and you are legally covered. Thumbs Up

I always post mine off sharpish nowadays. Once sold an astra that despite being unfit for the road the new owner happily drove off in. About a week later whilst pissed as a fart i gets a call from the police accusing me of a hit and run! Shocked
Did manage to convince them i had sold it and had just not sent off the V5 yet but put the shitters up me none the less! Straight to the nearest post box after completing a sale everytime since then Mr. Green
