hey guys,

Looking at restrictor kits for mynew er5 and i have found two different washers for the er5 and just wondering which will fit my bike, (54 plate).


Oval shaped holes:

im guessing either will be fine...if its carbed..

im sure the 04 ER5's were injection..

I dont think the round ones seem genuine. The oval ones are the FI ones. Ive got a pair myself.

Should both work fine none the less.

Those round ones don't look very smooth, i'd rather get the other ones as you want to be sure the manifold is air tight, plus i've seen a set of GPZ ones and i'm pretty sure they were oval (same engine).

The round ones look identical to those which I have for my GPZ500s (carbed) for fitment between carb and air box.

restricted it down to 33.3bhp.

If the ECU was clever enough to adjust the fuelling for the reduced airflow (which it is theoretically capable of doing with sensors, just needs to have a nice complete program on it) i can't see why not.

After all, it's not like you can change the jets!

I'd be interested to the actual answer if someone more knowledgeable comes along (i'm only halfway through my Haynes Motorcycle Basics Techbook so far!)
