Evening,

Reading through my No Claims Bonus certificate & it says "At the time of the expiry on the above policy, your no claims bonus was 2 years"
I earned 1 years NCB from that policy (in the car) but the other 1 years NCB was from my motorbike i used on the car policy.
My question is; Can i say i've got 2 years NCB on any policy now? I know a lot of car insurers won't accept bike NCB but the certificate says nothing about this so would this be OK?

When they ask for the proof certificate, they'll see it says 2 years NCB from eCar.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Ring who up? Smile

I know the insurance company's i want to go with only accept NCB from a car, i want to know if my 2 years NCB would get me into /much/ trouble if i didn't tell them 1 year was from a bike (if they found out). It says nothing about motorbike NCB, just that i have built up 2 years NCB with ecar.

Well if I was in your situation I wouldn't give them the ammo.
As everyone will tell you, insurance companies will have you for anything they can...

Don't risk it.
1 Year + NCB won't make much of a difference. (Well it doesn't for me, and I'm 17... Lost my NCB)

You're probably right, i'll just stick with one NCB then. Doesn't make a huge difference, it just means i could get Fully Comp for the same price that i'm getting on TPFT.

Thumbs Up

If they're issuing you 2 years NCD from a bike policy, then use 2 years NCD from a bike policy.

I had 3 years car NCD which came through on my renewal notice as 5 years - did I use 5 years? Hell yes I did.

You're not an insurance expert - you're not deliberately misguiding them. Go with it

Good point.

It's not making a major difference to my premium so if i can't find anything drastically cheaper, i'll just go with 1 years NCB.

Also, did you make any claims whilst using the 5 years NCB?

If the insurers will only ever check the certificate then that wouldn't be so bad, i just don't want them to dig deeper in the event of a claim, although it'd still probably come up as 2 years no claims on the car.

Cheers.

You've got 2 years NCB as a result of a car insurance policy, even the certificate says so.

(it's fairly common for people to switch bike NCB to car NCB this way, plenty of people have done it)

That's made me feel a bit better when you put it like that.

I'll give it a go anyway.

Thanks for the comments.
