exhaust firing flames!

just adjusted the valves on my zx6r b1h,took her for a test ride this afternoon and it was popping a tiny bit more than usual, then when i got in i realised it was shooting flames when giving it some revs at stand still. tbh it looks badass..
but more to the point im worried i buggered something up,is it probably just the carbs needing balancing?
any input would be great

also its got a power commander with a custom map...dont know if this would make any difference?..

watch out for that. my GSXR 400 had something similar caused by the output thrust journal throwing out too much fuel.

the engine didnt last much longer after that.

have a check that your chough nut is tight enough, because 9 times out of 10, that solves it before it gets fatal.

its underneath the fuel cap on most bikes. there should be 16 close together bolts, with a central nut in the chough. this is the nut you want.

should be tightened to around 200sqwrls (NOT fltb or NM). may need a special torque wrench for this (try the RSPCA or local park)

make sure you set the cam to 3 before tightening it, otherwise it wont move.

they are both fuel injected and carbd. The carbs are backup for the injection in case they fail. Its used for endurance racing.

I mean directly under the fuel cap, remove the tank to see. There should be all the bolts and chough nut i described visible. Its directly under the tank because the fuel iinjection on b1h's is wireless. First model to use it.

Im guessing when you say 'i adjusted my valves' you mean 'i had my valves adjusted for me'

If it's all adjusted to spec then I wouldn't worry(Just double check it). Is it running a race system?
Also has your PCIII been set up properly?

yeah i realise he was trying to amuse himself-it was a good'un..

took the bike out for another run today,its not backfiring anymore just running rich like its got the wrong map in the pcIII,have'nt had the time to check though but theres no reason why it should have changed.Its running a custom map i had set up last year..

i re-checked the clearances before putting the cam cover back on so they'r good.
