universal speedo's question

ok guys i need to replace my speedo so i can use my bike for my test (not allowed to use conversion stickers from KPH to MPH for test ! ) Twisted Evil
easy enough i think as it has a 60mm speedo anyway but i se there appear to be 2 different types due to the speed the cable runs at or something?
the usual one seems to be 60mph 2240 rpm and the other just says 2:1:1 ratio. how would i know which one i need to buy.
bike is a Hyosung cruise 125 and apparently they come in KMH only..
any pointers please i need to sort this asap

they have MPH on the inside...
atleast all the Hyo's i have ridden have KMH on outside and MPH on inside

Find a less wrong test centre.

Buy a cheap bicycle speedo and make sure it is correctly calibrated.

would that be ok then? i only spotted the bit about not being able to use adapted speedo's in the FAQ's for booking the test, it does seem a tad harsh to me

I expect they base their rules on the Construction and Use regulations rather than MOT standards - which differ when it comes to speedos.

I think they worry that the the calculation from kph to mph will be incorrect. If you calibrate the bike speedo correctly it should be exact. Cabled speedos can be out, hence why you get an allowance over the speed limit before the gatso nabs you.

If you're worried then probably best get confirmation from the DSA.

edit: you posted just as I did - I read that as no scribbling the mph on the kph speedo. If you get a reasonable speedo, it will probably be able to switch between kph & mph at the press of a button, so you can check against your kph speed.

i will ring the test centre first as its a 60 mile round trip to get there from here and i dont want to turn up and be turned away lol..
