Although it's not in the price range you mention, I can highly reccommend the Logitech G35. (but as said, it's more around 80quid than 30)

I was blown away by it's build quality, ease of use and most importantly, by the sound quality. Honestly, playing the new battlefield with these headphones is just incredible.

Again, it's not something that you're looking for, but as I'm not using my old headphones sicne I bought the Logitech one, you can have my old Sennheiser HD205 and buy a mic :p.

See BF:BC2 thread, your not the only one getting constantly sniped

MW2 is alot better for drop in drop out gaming as round can last 5 to 10 minutes.

Some BF games for me have lasted nearly 30 mins.

Not to mention you spend alot of time just traveling in BF.

Yea, I did read it before buying. Only played it online for a total of about ten minutes as was having some punkbuster issues previously.
Oh and it's for the PC.

I'm obviously as lucky as Luke, using the same Creative headset and had no problems at all with the build quality, they get a fairly harsh time of it as well given that they live in my laptop bag. Best money I have spent on audio gear, bar none. First time I listened to music through them was a real shock, there were things in the tracks I'd never noticed before 0_o

Mine have been dropped/sat on a million times. Survived a few jouneys abroad, 2 house moves, walking away from the comp ripping the leads outs fogetting I had them on a few hundered times, and pretty much constant use for a good few years.

Most of the reviews I read said the earcup linkage was weak and prone to breaking. Maybe your older models are more robust.

not exactly a gaming headset, but fantastic for gaming.

i used to use sony mdr-v700 headphones which are big heavy closed back dj style headphones

these are much more comfy

the bit that rests against your head is like a hammock, they are open back so light, and the sound quality is pretty good too

you can always get a cheap gaming heatset for the mic, and wear that round your neck, with the mic pointing towards your mouth

Currently using these: Speedlink Medusa NX Stereo Gamer which cost about £15.00 from Ebuyer. Previous set was the 5.1 surround version which snapped above the earpiece after around 2 years of use. They were the bollocks tho...

Cheers for the suggestions all - I got the ones off snomag and he even included a desk mic, so this'll do me for the moment. Sound quality is pretty decent, only prob is I'm tempted to take them into work (loud office, so often listen to music to block it all out.)

I'll make do for the moment and consider some more expensive ones when I've got some cash to throw at gaming.
