How awful is that. Sitting 3 feet away from your kid when it happens.

How awful is it that someone should be so retarded as to leave a loaded firearm lying around on the table with kids around? Poor kid, no sympathy for the parents.

What utter numb nuts for leaving a gun out in front of kids like that! Brick Wall I don't even leave a glass of water out within my kids reach in case she gets hold it then trips over, never mind if I even HAD a gun...

Very ironic adverts on the front page too... Laughing

More to the point, why was a 3 year old playing a shooting game on the wii with a lifelike gun controller?

Hi

Would also wonder about a 3 year old being able to pick up a pistol (weight wise). However from the reporting it could be that they just tried to pick it up and dropped it, or picked it up partly by the trigger.

All the best

our nanny state protects us from ourselves

Im sure in america, more family members die to hand guns than prowlers/burglars etc, either by suicides, accidents, or spur of the moment impulse shootings

Anyone see news at 10 just now?

Showing Americans walking round with guns on display. Makes me sick, one guy had a pistol and was walking his kid along. I mean there must be something wrong with them if they truly believe carrying a gun makes their society a better place.

One woman quoted

""the way to defend yourself in a civil society is to carry a gun" is quite a sad thing"

R.I.P. to the kid ... but I'm guessing she didn't really have much of a future with half her DNA coming from a retard like that Rolling Eyes

Not quite Darwinism as it wasn't the fathers pistol.

All the best

Darwin Awards mate, people offing themselves in a stupid manor. Granted its sucks that it happened to an infant but I find it hard to feel sympathy towards someone who left a loaded firearm next to a 3 year old.

And as I just said, its the situation/relevance to the Darwin awards that's funny, not the specifics.

Ok, maybe take a step back and breathe and then READ the story.

a) Cheyenne was a SHE - rubbish name I grant you - but not a HE
b) She shot herself in the ABDOMEN - yes that's the middle parts - middle parts don't tend to be the head.

No mate. Darwin awards are for stupid people offing themselves in a stupid manner. If the adult had shot himself mistaking the gun for a Wii controller then you could have used your term in the correct context.

Your quote suggests you think the 3 year old child was stupid not realising it was a real gun and you think it was funny. So here's another roll eyes for you. Rolling Eyes

Darwin awards (the name would suggest) are about taking stupid genes out of the gene pool. Arguably, the child taking herself out of the gene pool might save future generations from having the same genes - so Darwinism comment may actually be valid.

Anyways, it's just a bit of a pointless, err, point, to argue over. Kid's dead, result of stupidity on behalf of parents/guardians, tragedy happens day in day out - shit happens, time to move on

Can't be done for manslaughter as the child pulled the trigger. To be honest, not much would stand up in court as the Uncle didn't intend for the child to do it.
