Does removing the baffle and db killers from your exhaust affect performance or increase fuel consumption?

It depends on the valve timing. If you radically tune a bike so that you get freak timing you need back pressure to control the flow of exhaust gas in an attempt to keep the inlet charge in the combustion chamber. The classic way of doing so was by the use of a reverse cone megaphone silencer that sent a pulse of back pressure at certain revs.
My Badger needs back pressure, without any kind of baffle the pipe spits flames and scares horses.
