Has anyone got or had it? I pushed it a bit too hard at the gym and now my left hand is fucked. The doc said it was tendonitis, the one going to my thumb. It hurts like fuck if i have to use my thumb. Its been nearly 2 months and it is no better. Im wearing a support and rested it for a good month but surely it cant take this long to heal. So, anyone got any experience of having tendonitis?
Im going to ring the doctor and ask for an x ray just to make sure its not anything else.

I have tendinitis in my right elbow. The bad news is, it doesn't really ever get better. The good news is, mine doesn't often hurt.

If it's painful, take ibuprofen as an anti-inflammatory and pain killer. Have a look online to see if there are any exercises you can do to help - I have some from a physio I saw which keep it under control most of the time. Otherwise, it's a case of making sure you don't do things that set it off (for me, tennis and lots of fortissimo tremolo are bad).

Wait until you've wrecked them so bad that it feels like rubber bands being stetched.
I used some anti-inflam cream and pills.
All i could/can do is manage mine by not going berzerk in my work or excercising like a loon.
Rest the offending parts as much as you can.

See the quack again and repeat until old age sets in.

Get one of these so that mouse use doesn't make it worse.

https://www.evoluent.com/

Three of us in our dept. (I.T.) have had similar problems and these do work. The works physio now recommends them for anyone with tendonitis/carpal tunnel problems.

lol im right handed.... I was doing some weight lifting with a long bar up to me chin and down, my right hand was fine.... Rolling Eyes but my left hand obviously wasnt and this was the strenious excercise that caused the tendon to go.

I had it in my knees. It lasts at least six months normally because tendons, unlike other muscles, can only grow / repair it's cells very slowly because it's designed more like a bit of string than something which carries a lot of weight.

I ended up suffering pain for one and a half years in my knees because I didn't do physio. I recommend you don't strain / pull / damage the tendon any more but use it as much as possible without letting it become too inflamed.

The bad news is, it doesn't really ever get better.

Depends if it's acute or chronic.

Acute can be fully healed, chronic is about management.

Go to a sports specialist/private physio. Costs about £30-40 an hour but a good one is worth their weight in gold. Try not to use the hand which is effected at all until youve consulted one. Ice it when it hurts. Don't put any pressue on it, ie dont put it in certain positions that aggrevate it if avoidable.

Tendonitis refers to any damage/inflammation of a tendon. It can be caused by various things, you need to find out specifically what to make sure it heals properly.

Not true. Depends on severity of injury, where it is, the individual (ie how they manage it) and the treatment applied.
