Honda MTX 125 oil light constantly on???

Good day to you all, The oil light on my MTX is constantly on...all the oils are filled to the correct levels. the light has been on since i have bought it and have no idea why. some of the electrics are not present i.e 2 indicators and a few loose wires. could this be the cause? Very Happy many thanks

Hi

the oil light will be triggered by a sensor in the 2 stroke oil tank. Could be that is faulty, or the wiring to it is a mess.

Excellent ill get down and have a look shortly. im guessing its nothing to worry about as all the levels are correct, just a bit annoying.

Only thing to worry about is that you now have nothing to remind you when it gets low (but probably not a good idea to rely on the light anyway).

LOL im never one for relying on light, the petrol light on my car has been on for 6 months even wen tanks full. Very Happy There isn't one on the bike either

There are several different lightbulb holders that go into the back of the speedo, each of the lightbulb holders should go into its own hole otherwise you might have the neutral light holder going into the space for the oil light etc.
The bulbholder for the oil tank should have green and Green/red wires going to it.

If you haven't got one, get a Haynes manual for your bike. They sell for pennies on flea-bay!

I know it's an old post, or that I've ended up with that bike, but my lads is doing the same!
The Haynes manual only give you a test if you have NO light?
I've had the sensor out and it seems to be fine, resistance etc.
It's not a problem,as I've thought him to fill the oil regardless.
Just wondering if there was an outcome Very Happy

Just educate me please, but is it easier for people to spend ages searching forums for a 5year old topic about a specific bike, than it is to ask a new question/new topic?

I know there's fuck all chance of me spending ages searching forums for info that I would like or need, when I could just come out and ask a question in a new thread that may get more views and or interest.
