DVD Ripping for dummies

Hi guys, just got my fairly butch storage drive, and want to start sticking some epic films on there. And selling them on, naturally.

So, what's the quickest retard friendly way to rip a DVD?

Hopefully something I can just stick a dvd in, click one button, and end up with a pretty .avi at the end.

why would you just want the Avi at the end? if your selling them on then your going to have to convert the avi back again.

the 2nd programme is to convert it to avi 700mb. DVD shrink just turns it into vob files.

It's been a while but download AnyDVD by Slysoft to remove encryption on the DVD.

Then use WinAVI to convert the VOB files to AVI. It's very quick at doing this, usually about 30mins on my shitty setup.

Winavi never worked for me. That was on Vista though. Not sure I've tried it on 7.

I'm running it on vista now, don;t think I've ever had any problems with it, though there was a dodgy version that was going about a while ago, something like Version 7.1, except there was no version 7.1 and they had changed the colour scheme a bit as well as other tweaks here and there, but I don't know if anything came of it...

Out of curiousity, anyone managed to back up series DVD, ones with 4-8 things a disc?

movavi is good piece of kit. try egydown for a copy

any hd dvd decrypter is also good. again try egydown for a free version

Must say I've liked DVDShrink in the past.
If I remember right there's a suite of applications that includes DVDShrink to remove region stuff and decrypt the DVD.

Depends what you're playing back on or via (e.g. PowerDVD) then you could leave the IFO/VOB files without converting to AVI/MPG/DivX/etc.

However, if you're wanting to rip BluRay disc then it's a totally different ballgame (la bit of googling should give you some insight).

ive just ripped 160 dvds to a mediatank with dvd shrink running on 3 pcs and it took me just over a week.

it rips to iso files which i prefer. vlc plays them just like a real disc.

I just use DVDShrink to compress them and DVD43 to remove the protection. With Nero installed DVDShrink will burn straight to a DVD.

Works well enough for me, dont think I've not been able to do a film yet.

Are you saying you can't format because you don't have a cd drive?? ( I hear 'floppy drive' used to describe everything from ancient 5.2" disks to cd drive to USB sticks, it's lost any real meaning these days)

Yeah I dig 4 sheezy, so why not just insert windows xp installation disc into cd drive, tell BIOS to boot from cd drive, let the blue screen load up an do it's thing, then when you get to the 'choose drive' part of it you can delete the partition that 'C:' resides on, create the new partition, do a 'quick' format and let the disc do the rest. Piece of piss and you'll have you're feet up in front of 'Britains fattest slags' just in time for tea.....
