I have noticed a lot of cars and vans recently move to the right to prevent me coming through slowly on my bike at junctions.

It is when the traffic has stopped and is queueing and I sometimes wait behind the stopped cars but sometimes slowly pass them.

Anyone else noticed this?

You get it from time to time, its not always an attempt to block you though. It can just be a car moving round a pot hole or a driver hoping to see a bit further up the road, but from time to time its someone being an ass. Just don't let it get to you and get past when you spot a space Thumbs Up.

On my travels i've noticed that the amount that move over to give me more room, about balances out the people who do the opposite, so don't let it bother me.

Its not deliberate, generally. They just don't understand the concept of bikes.

As a bike rider i'm used to moving about in the lane to get better visibility or give people more space. When in the car i often do this with realising i might be blocking bikes trying to filter. The whole point of filtering is that you go where others don't and do things others don't expect. Just so long as cars behave predictably just work your way around them however you can.

I Love it when they do this on purpose, if your quick you can dart up the other side of them I'd love to see there face when they realised you passed them asif they weren't there.

I have started to get a bit more agressive in my filtering of late (maybe not a good thing but, meh!) and i have noticed that if you approach as if you will be coming through whether they move over or not you get a lot less of this as opposed to going very slowly and stopping behind someone being a bit of an arse!

You'll have the occasional one that does it on purpose, but generally it's just the drivers trying to get a better view around the traffic.
Just as long as you're aware of the possibility of them moving, you should be able to look ahead and plan your filtering.

For me, since fitting the Beowulf end can, I've recently become more aggressive with the filtering. I've started to drop down an extra gear, so that the exhaust is that much louder and I'm more likely to be noticed Thumbs Up Twisted Evil If a bright yellow lid and a loud exhaust isn't enough for them, they probably shouldn't be allowed out unsupervised

No where near enough,

However I found these cut down the amount of muppets that pull out by about half, (only when it is dark).

I had some neddy girl on the m8 do this to me for half a mile.

i just dropped back a few cars, sneaked behind one and went round the other side.

I cut back in between the two lanes in front of her and got a blast of the horn in anger.

Laughing

If someone is blocking you then it just means they are creating space for you on the other side. Cool

Only a very few cases, most seem to be people not being very aware of their surroundings. One person parked his car on my left foot trying to block me, but moved off fairly quickly when I suspect my body-language looked rather aggressive.
If they are 'trying' they often leave a massive gap on the other side, so you can just slip around, possibly giving them a thankful wave for leaving a massive gap Smile.
Had someone shout at me the other day after I stopped when he tried to close the gap I was going for in fairly stationary traffic - couldn't be bothered to stop and argue though, but he did seem to think I was 'wrong'.

Bah, you're just not filtering fast enough. Shouldn't give them enough time to notice you and react.

Smile

My favourite way to annoy drivers is at the turning for the Rotherhide tunnel on Comercial Street coming out of London, to go to the rotherhide is a right turn, to carry on on Comercial Street is straight, so many people will sit in the middle lane block traffic that want to go straight on waiting for the rotherhide lights to change. (2 left lanes are for straight on the right is for the rotherhide) this really winds me up when they do it, as is causes alot of traffic. If I see someone doing that I will filter to the front and sit in front of them (In the middle straight on lane) the lights for the right turn come after the straight on lights stop so if you can time it so you get caught on your red light then the right light goes green and they are in the wrong lane with a bike infront of them.

I had one guy who missed the set of lights because nobody would let him into the correct lane someone let him in ater the light had gone red he pulls up along side me and his wife of whatever winds down the window and starts shouting and me in some random langauge, i looked at her and said as loud as I could without shouting 'FUCK OFF' and then just stared at her, she said nothing and wound up the window.

Good to get other bike riders opinions.
Maybe I am being too sensitive and they are not doing it on purpose.

Although I do think some people are anti motorcycles and motorcyclists.

I drove to a tyre fitting establishment, this morning, smartly dressed to ask "if I bring in the wheel and new tyre how much will you charge to fit a new it?"
Very grumpy owner could hardly be bothered to look at me let alone talk or grin.
All he said was, we wont don't. "Why". Bikes, nah.

Perhaps I do need to change my deoderant.

Another place wants £15 per wheel. Time to get my tyre levers out again I think.

I have noticed it in built up cities but not round here. I think some of them get pissed off they have to wait for an hour in peak time traffic whilst you're scoobying up the front.

£15 a wheel is about Standard I think, the place I go used to charge £12 but now it is £15, ride in ride out is £25 per wheel Shocked

I'm going to buy that abba beadbraker kit and have a go my self. It's £80 but after 6 tire changes it has paid for itself. Considering there are 7 bikes in my house that won't take long.

I think most of them don't know you're there because they haven't looked in their mirrors. Occasionally I'll be behind someone for ages who I could swear is blocking on purpose, only for them to suddenly spot me and fling the car to the left/right to let me through.

Look in their wing mirror at their face. Majority of the time you can see them staring forwards like a zombie. Occasionally you will see them look at you through the mirror and still not move, then you can be a twat to them Laughing
