Hey all I just picked up a steal of a bike from Webbs of Lincoln as a trade sale with no warrenty.

Everythings fine with it apart from a slight carb problem.

If I'm in second or third gear and at low revs, and give it a firm twist on the throttle, it kind of coughs and eventually picks up, theres no smooth throttle response. It also won't rev to the redline under load.

I haven't had time to look yet, but my plan is to drain the carbs and tank first to see if that helps, then check the fuel filter, then clean the carbs out. I've heard that these bikes get a flat spot at 4-6k because the needles wear or something of the like. Come payday I'm going to be getting a dynojet kit and some dyno time to get it set up sweetly, but is there anything else I should do in the meantime?
